Patch note

Something to do today

Daily and weekly quests, on two bars in the HUD — and production boosts you can win from them, pull out of a pirate camp, or open in a free capsule.

An empire that only grows while you are asleep does not give you much reason to be awake. Two things landed to fix that, and they feed each other.

Two bars, two rhythms

Quests now sit in the HUD on two tracks: what there is to do today, and what the week is asking of you. They are not the same list at two speeds — the daily one is a checklist you can finish in a session, while the weekly one counts totals, and simply turning up every day is one of the things it counts.

Progress is derived from what you actually did, not written down as you go, so it cannot drift out of step with your own history. Anything claimable sorts to the top: a reward you have earned and not taken should never be something you have to go hunting for.

Boosts, and three ways to get one

The first reward in the game that runs on a clock. A production boost is an item you keep in your bag and activate on a planet you choose; while it burns, that world produces more, and the top of the screen shows the lift rather than making you take it on faith.

Three sources, and two of them are free:

  • quests — the daily and weekly tracks pay them out;
  • pirate camps — clearing one can drop a boost with the rest of the haul;
  • the shop — bought with Quasars, and the free capsule can contain one, so you meet the item before anyone asks you to pay for it.

Deliberately absent: boosts are not in the paid capsules. Free and paid economies are kept apart here on purpose, and a timed production bonus is exactly the sort of thing that should be won rather than sold blind.
